The Senior Accountant I is responsible for supporting the accounting for accounts payable, inventory, freight, and cost of goods sold along with corresponding systems and processes. The position will coordinate monthly close activities, ensure GAAP and SOX compliance, improve processes, perform analysis on business trends, and investigate transactions and system issues.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Develop partnerships with key internal customers and cross functional teams
Proactively provide timely, actionable, and accurate, financial reporting, analysis, and recommendations to the organization
Work on cross functional teams to investigate issues and improve processes
Make recommendations to improve operational reporting and analysis
Provides training, coaching, and development for staff accountants
Analyze and present monthly operational accounting financial performance compared to plan, forecast and the prior year
Build financial models to support management decision making including inventory analysis, customer and vendor analysis, and cost benefit analysis
Prepare monthly and daily reconciliations of various accounts payable, inventory, and other balance sheet accounts
Prepare and present reporting and analysis to support corporate projects and initiatives
Prepare journal entries
Ensure the integrity of the information prepared and distributed by the department
Financial audit preparation and cooperation with the audit process.
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree either in finance or accounting, or another major with CPA.
External candidates:
3 years previous accounting or financial audit experience.
Internal candidates:
2 years CDW accounting or finance experience.
Other Required Qualifications
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with internal and external stakeholders
Demonstrated strong knowledge of accounting and finance principles and practices
Solid technical accounting skills
Demonstrated organizational skills with critical attention to detail
Track record of balancing multiple priorities simultaneously with the ability to adapt to the changing needs of the business, while meeting deadlines
Proficient in Microsoft office applications with strong experience in Excel
Proven track record in problem analysis with the ability to creatively and proactively problem solve

Data warehouse experience
Strong aptitude and experience with general ledger systems
